Is that a rattling sound I hear?

Earlier today Sharon and I were near Laurel Mountain State Park when we noticed a snake moving in the grass near one of the rest areas. We had our camera with us so we decided to get a bit closer and check it out. Well, when we got close enough we could hear the tell-tale rattle. Sure enough, it was a rattle snake - I think an eastern diamondback.

I think snakes get a bad rep. This one wasn't mean at all. It just wanted to be left along and after a warning rattle, it quickly slithered through the grass and back into hiding.
